Educational
Programs
High School
outreach encompasses both the Opportunity House at
Sheridan
High School and the Willamina High School.
Opportunity House is an alternative program designed for at-risk
youth, teen parents, and students who need an alternative
learning environment. We plan to target this especially
vulnerable population with core principles of positive youth
development: resiliency, connectedness and engagement.
With a weekly
support group/outreach effort in each of these schools, we hope
to foster healthy teen relationships and dating patterns that
will lead to better choices in long-term relationships and break
the cycle of domestic abuse more prevalent in rural communities.
We intend to provide knowledge and the capacity for these youth
to address and prevent dating violence. We understand that there
are some teens already involved in dangerous and unhealthy
situations, and for those teens we offer our direct services in
addition to educating them about healthy choices for their
futures. |
