Henderson House is open from 9:00
a.m. through 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at our First and
Ford facility in McMinnville. If you need help outside our
normal work hours, please call our crisis line. An
advocate will answer the phone 24 hours a day.
Crisis Line:
Henderson House provides round-the-clock advocacy 365 days a
year, information and referrals to more than 1,000 callers
annually. Call 24 hours a day: (503) 472-1503 or
(877) 227-5946.

Shelter: Henderson House Provides
life-saving services to more than 100 women and children each
year who receive food, clothing, transportation, support groups
and individual counseling. Advocates can accompany survivors to
a medical facility. Henderson House provides a safe environment
for women and children to stabilize from their initial crisis
situation. Victims work with an advocate to develop a plan for
them to move forward from victim to survivor. We empower clients
by providing information about their abuse, provide them with
the information necessary for them to make informed choices and
then support them in their decision-making processes, even if
their decision is to return to their abuser.

Crisis
Intervention and Support: Advocates help families to
help themselves through comprehensive planning and access to
services, such as drug and alcohol assessment and treatment,
employment searches, housing and legal assistance, and ongoing
emotional support. We assist victims with completing restraining
orders. We accompany clients to court and provide information
that will help them understand the court processes and
procedures. We provide a voice for victims when they are unable
to find their own. We regularly conduct safety planning, abuse
continuum evaluations and lethality assessments with our
clients. We contract to provide individual counseling for adult
clients. We make ourselves available to victims and accompany
them to the emergency room or doctor.

Children's Services: By
providing group and individualized structured activities,
developmentally appropriate play activities, and assisting
parents to re-bond with their children, Henderson House helps
break the cycle of violence with children who have experienced
and witnessed abuse.

Support Groups: Trained
facilitators and volunteers offer weekly
support
groups for both adults and their children. Spanish speaking
groups are also available. Additionally we work to promote
change in the societal conditions that allow oppression and all
forms of violence against vulnerable populations to exist, by
providing direct services, outreach, and education. For more
about support groups, click
here.

Outreach: We regularly conduct
outreach through public service announcements on the local radio
station, the use of public able access, and having local
newspapers run articles related to our services. We also publish
a newsletter three times a year with a circulation of over 1,500
individuals and businesses through Yamhill County. We use our
newsletter to inform people of our services and to educate on
specific topics related to domestic and sexual violence.

Community Connections:
We work cooperatively and closely with a network of service
providers, law enforcement, and court and corrections personnel
on a countywide domestic violence task force, working toward a
coordinated community response. We work with state agencies to
develop coordinated case plans with mutual clients.

Education: Henderson House
enlists the community in preventing domestic and sexual violence
through a speaker's bureau, public information, and
community-wide awareness activities. Community Education is
provided to schools, businesses, service clubs, civic groups,
and social service organizations. We provide community education
to schools, businesses, and organizations. We have curriculums
for elementary, high school, and college students. We
individualize our presentations to businesses and organizations
to meet their needs. For more about our educational
programs, click here. |
