It is important to know that abuse is rarely a one time occurrence. It often happens many times, in a cycle.  

Domestic Violence is any violent or aggressive behavior within the home, typically involving the violent abuse of a spouse or partner

  • Abuser acts like the abuse never happened 
  • Physical abuse may not be taking place 
  • Promises made during 'making-up' may be met 
  • Victim may hope that the abuse is over 
  • Abuser may give gifts to victim
