Dr. Kourtney Ferrua
Dr. Kourtney Ferrua serves as Superintendent of the McMinnville School District. A lifelong McMinnville native she is honored to serve as an education leader in the district where she attended kindergarten through high school and where her children also attended. She has held multiple leadership roles including Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, principal, instructional coach, and classroom teacher. Dr. Ferrua is recognized for her strong instructional leadership, with a focus on data-informed decision-making and professional learning. She is a certified trainer, educational consultant, and national presenter. In 2019, she was named Oregon’s Principal of the Year and a Nationally Distinguished Principal. She is also the co-author of PrincipalED: Navigating the Leadership Learning Curve, a text used in many principal preparation programs.
Deeply engaged in community and statewide education initiatives, Dr. Ferrua has served on the Yamhill County Early Learning Council, the Head Start and Juliette’s House boards, the Family Wellbeing Council, and the McMinnville Area Chamber of Commerce. She has also contributed at the state level through the Oregon Elementary Principals Association and currently serves as president of Oregon ASCD/NW Teaching, Learning & Leading Network.
A native Oregonian, Dr. Ferrua holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of San Francisco, a master’s degree from the University of Portland, and a doctorate from the University of Oregon. Kourtney has been married to her husband, Kevin Ferrua since 2002. They have two adult children, Eva and Dylan. When not working, Kourtney enjoys vacationing in warm places, reading books, cooking, and spending as much time as possible with her growing children.
